Having problems? Explore our frequently asked questions (FAQ's) to find a solution to your problem.
- Q: What is Glacir?
- A: Glacir is a service that connects you to other people and world events through your own six degrees of separation. To learn more, visit our home page.
- Q: Do I need anything special to use Glacir?
- A: All you need to use Glacir is a computer and an internet connection. Be sure you have cookies and Javascript enabled in your browser for the best experience. Join us! Once you're a Glacir member, connect your Facebook account to Glacir, find people you know, and invite friends, family, and coworkers to join you. The more people you connect to the further your degrees of separation will spread around the world!
- Q: How do I find people I know?
- A: When you create an account, you can connect your Facebook account to Glacir, search for people by name or username, or invite them via email. Once you've found or invited people you know, add them as a 1st degree to create a connection and watch your six degrees of separation grow!
- Q: What does it mean to "add to 1st degree" on Glacir?
- A: Adding someone as a 1st degree simply means you know this person. When you 1st degree someone, they will be sent a connection request, and once they confirm they know you, you both will be connected as 1st degrees. Once you are connected your degrees of separation will inherit all of your new connection's degrees of separation. Every time you connect to someone, all of your degrees of separation will grow! The amazing thing is that after you are connected to someone and their degrees of separation grow, so will yours, without any input from you!
- Q: How do I know who my 1st degrees are?
- A: After your connection has been confirmed by you and the person you have requested to connect to, you are 1st degrees of one another. To see all of your degrees, including your 1st degrees, go to your degrees page.
- Q: Can I block people?
- A: Yes, you can. If you block someone, they wont be able to see your profile or add you as a 1st degree. However, if you are in their second through sixth degree they will see how you impact their own degrees of separation. To block a user, visit your privacy page.
- Q: How can I connect my Facebook Account to Glacir?
- A: To connect your Facebook account to Glacir, go to the connect page and follow the instructions on the page.
- Q: What does connecting my Facebook account to Glacir allow me to do?

- Q: I'd like to report a deceased user or an account that needs to be memorialized.
- A: Please report this information here so that we can memorialize this person's account. Memorializing the account removes contact information and will not allow people to request a first degree connection. Please note that in order to protect the privacy of the deceased user, we cannot provide login information for the account to anyone. We do honor requests from close family members to close the account completely.
- Q: I don't want my birth year displayed, is there a way to disable it?
- A: Yes there is. Make sure you are logged in and go to privacy settings. On this page, there is an option called "Display Your Birthday Year". Use the pull-down menu and select "hide", and then click the save button at the bottom of the page. Your birth year should now be hidden to anyone viewing your profile!
